What You'll Be Doing The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, under the general direction of the Medical Director and Practice Administrator, will provide healthcare in a pediatric practice clinical setting within their scope.
The successful candidate will / be able to:
Obtain a comprehensive health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews; assess presenting illness, risk factors, and family history, psychosocial situation, and cultural factors; and performing thorough physical examination Assess, diagnose, treat, evaluate and manage acute and chronic mental illness Conduct psychiatric evaluations Refer patients for mental health therapy as needed Consult with other mental health professional to ensure quality patient care Develop and implement treatment plan including, but not limited to prescribe/dispense medications in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws Order/perform appropriate laboratory, diagnostic and other screening tests, including seek other information as needed, and consult with physicians and other clinicians for the evaluation of illness as needed Prepare documentation for medical records including updating patient medical chart by posting assessment, treatment plan, examination and test results, diagnosis, medications, and treatment in written format or electronically, in a timely fashion Effectively conduct patient consults and communicate plan of treatment and care with patient/family to ensure patient awareness of self-management and health promotion/disease prevention Recommend appropriate community resources to meet patient/family needs Maintain cooperative and respectful attitude with clinic personnel, providers, and patients to enhance continuity of care and a positive working environment Communicate appropriate information to other professionals and community agencies Willingness and ability to utilize telehealth to treat patients as appropriate Perform any and all other duties as assigned What We're Looking For Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nursing required At least 2 years of experience practicing as an NP in a clinic/practice or urgent care or environment required Valid LA Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licenses required Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification required Maintain all appropriate approvals to prescribe and dispense drugs under applicable Louisiana State and federal law (CDS DEA license) Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Courteous and compassionate bedside manner What We Offer Competitive pay Flexible schedule Job Type:
